I am going to propose to my girlfriend on xmas day and I need to buy a ring. Am I right in thinking that a Diamond solitare is the way forward or what?

How lovely! Has she expressed a preference for any particluar gem before? Have a look in her jewellery box and see what sort of thing she likes. That said, I don't think you can go far wrong with a Diamond

I had a look in her jewellery draw and it was just full of beads. She must keep the good stuff in a vault

Anyway, I found a really nice square cut diamond type thing and it is now on order thanks for your help.

Thank you. Yes I am pretty sure she is going to say yes. We've already discussed it, she just doesn't know when the actual proposal is going to take place.
