Wedding outfits, cash, wine and three bottles of champagne given as gifts for their big day were stolen during the raid on their home. That left the couple in a frantic race against time to replace the lost items and get everything in order for their wedding at 3pm the following afternoon. Thankfully, friends and family rallied round the couple to ensure their big day went off exactly as they had planned. “Friday was horrendous,” said Mrs Tomkins. “We were running around everywhere trying to get things sorted. “Thankfully, we managed it and the wedding was fantastic. “I was heartbroken and very upset on Friday, and what had happened was still in the back of my mind, but you just can’t let it spoil everything that you have arranged.” Mr and Mrs Tomkins, who are both registered blind, were overwhelmed by the support they received following the burglary. Mrs Tomkins paid special tribute to her friends Jean Webster and Sarah Young while Mr Tomkins thanked his colleagues at Craegmoor who surprised him with champagne and chocolates to replace some of the items stolen in the incident. The newlyweds are now enjoying a sunshine honeymoon in Antigua. One man was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary following the incident. Christopher Turner, aged 35, of no fixed address, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody to appear back in court on Tuesday, June 29.
