Gone are the days when a Brides gown would be lovingly stored away as a keepsake or to be handed down from Mother to Daughter. It has been quite the norm for some time to sell ones wedding dress after the event. Now some brides are advertising their wedding dresses for sale even before they walk down the aisle.

As more and more brides are trying to sell their used wedding dresses online, some brides-to-be who spent more than they had originally planned on their gowns have come up with the idea of so-called presales. They are betting that their unused gowns — in styles still current — will stand out from the used competition and help them recoup some of their costs, assuaging their guilt about overspending.

Buyers usually pay a deposit upfront and sign a contract guaranteeing that they will pay the rest as long as the dress is in good condition after the original owner’s wedding.

wedding gowns are not the only items being put up for sale before the ceremony. Online wedding presale postings are being used for everything from centerpieces and bridesmaid dresses to shoes and Tiaras.
