The outdoor experience, in partnership with National Express, is a welcome alternative for cash strapped tourists excluded by the expensive ‘kate rate’ in so many London hotels.
“Camp Royale is a great idea,” says Joy Williams from National Express. “We are 100% committed to giving people from all corners of the country a hassle free and cost effective alternative to cars and central London hotels.”
Camp Royale Wedding Weekend Experience: At £75 per person for 3 nights Camp Royale will have 24 hour security, the latest electronic RFID wrist band technology for quick and secure access in and out of the campsite, hot showers, wash and toilet facilities, a dedicated Quiet Zone, a Family Zone and a Glamping Zone for luxury campers with 18ft tipis available with beds, sheepskin rugs and tables starting from £2,000 for 6 people. Groups of 12 or more will be able to reserve a special area together on the campsite so that friends can be together.
Features across the campsite will include a 20m² tv screen for guests to watch the build up and live broadcasts, free morning brew every day courtesy of Yorkshire Tea, resident Camp Royale Beefeaters, a Camp Royale stylist to advise visitors on what to wear on the big day. A secret wedding present from campers to the royal couple will also be organised. Special experiences will include a Camp Royale Clapham Common choir and a Camp Royale artist in residence to record the weekend. For the best dressed guests and most creative interior designed tents, prizes will be awarded.
There are plans for a licensed entertainment area to cater for up to up to 4,999 Clapham commoners with hot food, licensed bar, music and entertainment.
"Clapham Common is a London landmark and a great location for royal wedding visitors and party goers to base themselves and join in the fun,” says a spokesperson from Lambeth Councils Events Team. “We have hosted many sell-out events on the Common and we are delighted to be part of the celebrations. This event is totally unique.”
Easy Access To The Action: A short walk from Clapham Common underground station Camp Royale is just a 10 minute tube journey (6 stops on the Northern Line) to Embankment and a springtime stroll to where the action is along The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square. It’s a great opportunity for visitors to explore London over the weekend.
“We have had an amazing response to Camp Royale so far with numerous goodwill offers from brands, partners and local businesses who want to be part of the big day and global media spotlight”, says Dan Cotter, spokesperson for Camp Royale. “We hope that this affordable option will appeal to people who thought they couldn’t afford to join in the fun.” |
