The beautiful wedding dress of the new Duchess of Cambridge looks set go on show to the public.
Kate Middleton wowed the crowds on Friday when she appeared in the understated yet intricately decorated wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.
Now Clarence House says plans are being drawn up which could see the dress go on public display.
"The Duchess of Cambridge is considering a number of options to give members of the public the opportunity to see close up the skilled British craftsmanship that went into the making of her wedding dress by Sarah Burton and her team as well as the Royal School of Needlework," said a spokeswoman.
She did not say exactly when or where it might be exhibited but a number of gowns worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, have gone on display at Kensington Palace in the past.
While Diana was a global fashion icon, Kate's choices of outfit are also being poured over, and are likely to feature on front pages and fashion pages for years to come.
Kate's dress received a rapturous reception when she arrived at the ceremony in Westminster Abbey on Friday and for months it was fashion's best-kept secret.
It has emerged that not even the team of embroiderers working on the gown at Hampton Court Palace knew the identity of the designer until shortly before the public announcement.
Copycat versions of the dress are already being created, due to high demand. |
