bride-to-be Jude Onions chose An unusual venue for a hen party, holding her celebration in Gaping Gill, one of Britain's biggest underground caves.
Jude decided to celebrate her upcoming marriage with 25 friends at the awe-inspiring underground scene. The hens were winched down a 334ft drop, one at a time taking over an hour for the full group by members of Bradford Potholing Club who take first-time cavers down every May.
The complex cave system is situated on the slopes of Ingleborough mountain in the Yorkshire Dales. The main chamber contains Britain's highest unbroken waterfall and is big enough to fit St Paul's Cathedral inside.
In true Hen party style, Jude and her friends donned feather boas with hard hats and drank wine and ate buffet food in the chamber. They were entertained by a friend's band whose instruments were lowered down with them.
Jude said: 'It was brilliant, it was really good to take all my friends caving that have never been before and do it in a glamorous, girly way. 'It was absolutely beautiful down there, with the waterfall and everything and I showed them caving's not just cold and muddy and horrible all the time.'
The groom to be, lifelong caver Johnny Latimer, 32, proposed to Jude, 27 inside a pub's bread oven two years ago. It is tradition for cavers to try and cram into the tiny space when they propose.
Jude said: 'They shut the door on us and Johnny said "Jude, will you marry me?" 'We got out, covered in flour, I said yes and everyone cheered and we all drank champagne.'
