Royal wedding fans have been warned there will be“minimal opportunity” to see Zara Phillips on her wedding day.
Excited fans will no doubt crowd the streets of Edinburgh, desperate to see what the Queen’s granddaughter as she marries rugby player Mike Tindall.
But the police have insisted that the happy event is a "private, family occasion" and that the Royal Mile’s "very narrow thoroughfare" will make it difficult for excited passers-by to gather nearby or see anything.
This will no doubt disappoint royal fans, who turned out in force for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s April 29 wedding.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Zara’s mother Princess Anne and husband Timothy Laurence and Zara’s brother Peter and his wife Autumn are all expected to attend the ceremony at the end of the month.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate and Wills, are also expected at the wedding, fresh from their first official overseas trip as husband and wife.
Huge security measures are being taken to ensure the safety of Zara and her wedding guests. Canongate Kirk, where the royal bride will wed her long-term partner, is being closed for one week before the ceremony, reportedly to allow for the historic church to be fully secured for the wedding.
Council chiefs are also reported to have hired private security guards to keep crowds expected to turn out under control, and road closures are expected to be implemented during the wedding.
And apparently despite the huge public interest in the royal wedding of Kate and Prince William at Westminster Abbey, no big screen TVs or viewing areas will be available for anyone who wants to watch Zara Phillips’ wedding as it happens.
After marrying in Canongate Kirk, Zara and Mike are expected to party the night away with a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse on the Royal Mile, the Queen's official home in Scotland.
