Give ItGive It, the not-for-profit organisation behind a variety of gift list services including The Alternative Wedding List and The Green Wedding List has launched its’ latest service

– The African Wedding List.

Dozens of charities including Barnardo’s, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Save the Children and the World Land Trust have already benefited from appearing on couples gifts lists and now even more charities are getting involved for The African Wedding List, giving couples and guests even more choices of charities and gifts.

Andy Hickey, who heads the operation says, “our themed services, such as our Scottish and London gift lists, continue to generate interest and we wanted to give couples even more good reasons to say “yes” to having a charity wedding list either on its’ own or, more commonly, alongside a traditional gift list – most couples have more than one gift list so it’s becoming easier for them to consider have a charity gift list as well.”

The gift of waterDonations to charities working overseas have always been extremely popular on The Alternative Wedding List and now even more charities that work in Africa have been brought together for the new gift list. Charities new to the services including AfriKids, Street Child Africa and Tree Aid now appear on The African Wedding List alongside other charities that have been involved with Give It for some time, including leading children’s charity Save the Children, Sight Savers International who work to combat blindness in developing countries and campaigning charity War on Want.

The African Wedding List operates online, via www.giveit.co.uk, and couples either sign-up to one of a number of ready-made gift lists containing donations to various charities, or put together their own selection of charities and gifts from all those on each service. Their family and friends then logon and pick a gift to the charity of their choice from those selected.

Andy adds “as more and more marrying couples already have all they need in their home they are increasingly turning to an ethical choice of gift list and we think it’s also important that we’re an ethical organisation. Couples, guests and charities know that when a guest selects a donation the charity will get 100% of their spend and that we don’t make any profits for ourselves either directly or indirectly.”
