Do not underestimate the power of Canapés. As a perfect accompaniment to the welcome drinks or something to keep the guests occupied between those almost inevitable times that there is a gap in the day’s proceedings, they are almost certainly welcomed by the guests and add a touch of finesse to the occasion.The more choice of different Canapés you offer the more interesting the display will be and will cater to all tastes. Canapés can be an easy to assemble food if not a little time consuming. If you keep them basic enough, you could rope Aunty Maureen into preparing them for you. These treats have been specifically chosen to be basic in preparation but attractive and delicious. Salmon and soft garlic cheese on cucumber Mix cheese and sour cream in a bowl until smooth; spoon into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe onto cucumber slices.
Tomato and mozzarella salad skewers Thread mozzarella balls, tomatoes and basil leaves, alternating, on a skewer. Mix pesto and balsamic vinegar in a bowl. Brush over skewers for around an hour to let them marinate Basic and beautiful!
Ba Mix in a small amount of Stilton to cream cheese. Grill bacon until crispy and slice apple thinly and place into water to avoid browning. When ready to serve to your guests assemble the cream cheese onto a cheese cracker position two pieces of bacon into a V angle and insert the apple in between.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares. Halve cherry tomatoes and place onto the puff pastry. Season with a little pepper and a sprinkle of thyme leaves and some goat's cheese to the top and place in the oven until the pastry begins to brown. Sprinkle with more thyme leaves to garnish.
In a chilled bowl, combine cream, a little chilli powder, salt and lime zest. Whip just until soft peaks form. Stir in lime juice to taste. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Place a small dollop of the whipped cream on cucumber slices. Place a king prawn on each and garnish with lime zest.
Slice potatoes. Brush with olive oil and roast until golden. Mix cheese of your choice to a little chopped sage into some soft cheese and spoon into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe onto the potatoes. Add a strip of sage to garnish
Bruchetta Combine tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, basil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes. Cut a baguette into 3/4-inch slices. On a baking sheet, arrange the baguette slices in a single layer. Grill for 1 to 2 minutes, until slightly brown. Divide the tomato mixture evenly over the baguette slices. Top the slices with mozzarella cheese. Grill until the cheese is melted.
Cut the honeydew melon into wedge-shaped slices and cut off the rind. Cut the nectarines into wedges.
Crack each egg all over and carefully peel off the shell. Cut each egg in half lengthways and place on a plate. Top with a few grains of caviar or salmon roe. Simple and quite delicious!
