Certain traditions have changed, such as it being necessary for the bridesmaid to be unmarried or even in some cases female! We have included the roles that you may be expected to perform and some things you may wish to do to help assist the Bride.
Attend (possibly numerous) Dress selection and fitting appointments. Offer to help the Bride with any of her DIY wedding preperations such as completing invitations, making up the favours, even sourcing suppliers. Organise or help to organise the Hen night, possibly adding a few extra touches or surpises for the Bride. Attend the wedding rehearsal where the Minister will explain your choreography during the service Try to support the Bride emotionally, it is a very stressful time in the run up to the big day.
Construct the 'emergency' bag. Any medication such as inhalers or headache pills. Safety pins, the Brides lipstick or other cosmetics she may want to touch up with. Spare tights or stockings, a needle and thread. Travel to the wedding ceremony with the other attendants and Mother of the Bride. Walk down the aisle as part of wedding the procession. and again during the Recession. Take care of any children in the wedding party. Offer to help the bride if she needs to go to the bathroom, it can get a bit tricky in those cubicles if the dress has lots of material! Collect disposable cameras and arranging to have the images developed in time for the honeymoon return.Get the party started when the dancefloor looks empty. The Bride will be very nervous about everyone having a good time. Offer to stay behind and collect any cards and presents and arrange for them to get to the Brides home. |
