Carley Edmundson an Accountant from Australia, along with her fiancé Scott Chapman were planning their holiday travels around South Africa when they contacted Timeless Weddings Company to help them plan a romantic end to their holiday by getting married!
Wanting to keep it relaxed and intimate, Carley and Scott choose a small fishing village in Arniston, Eastern Cape. Arniston is also called Waenhuiskrans (wagon house cliff), a name which originates from the shape of a giant’s sea cave nearby. Tide permitting, visitors can easily enjoy accessing this magnificent site.
Arniston lies on the spectacular Overberg coast, a wonderful two hours’ drive from Cape Town. This coastline is still a peaceful, immaculate, virtually unknown part of South Africa although it offers some of the world’s best whale watching! Visitors come to walk on the romantic beaches, enjoy the hospitality of the local fisherman’s cuisine, enjoy brilliant sunsets and get lost in the Southern Night sky where the Southern Cross seems close enough to touch.
Carley, feeling it was the most beautiful location for her wedding, with the whitewashed buildings, white limestone cliffs, fantastic sand dunes, unspoiled white sand beaches, amazing nature reserves and the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean, she was sure the luxurious 4 star Arniston Hotel was the perfect place to unwind.
Both being originally from Australia, they invited just their parents over to celebrate their special occasion while encouraging them to visit another beautiful part of the world! Spending three nights in the Arniston Hotel, all three couples had sea facing views and were eagerly welcomed guests.
A very intimate and charming late-afternoon ceremony was held at the local Arniston church. Carley wore a simple delicate ivory dress and Scott wore an attractive navy suit. Timeless Weddings organised the photographer, Annelize, who took photos of the wedding and the couple down on the beach. Make-up and hair were also organised by Timeless Weddings and Colleen, Timeless Weddings Cape Town Coordinator, decorated the church with daises tied to pews and arranged for the brides’ bouquet of ribbon-tied white lilies.
After the photos, the bridal party went back to the hotel where they had had their sundowners in the lounge overlooking the beach and from their moved into the cellar for their reception dinner. Colleen had decorated the cellar with lily flower arrangements for the table and an abundance of glowing candles everywhere – more romantic you could not find!
The day before the wedding the couple and their parents had dinner at a local fisherman’s family who invites guests into their home to enjoy a spectacular and delectable home-made meal! The following day after the wedding the bridal couple went on a deep sea fishing cruise, organised by Timeless Weddings Company.
Carley said of her Timeless Wedding, “The day went really smoothly thanks to everyone at Timeless Weddings. Having somebody else organise everything meant that I could enjoy the day too. The photographer, hairdresser, make up artist, florist, minister and church were all taken care of by Timeless Weddings and were all exceptional.…we are both Australian, and had our parents meet us in South Africa to attend our wedding and we combined it with a 6 week safari and tour of Southern Africa…it was a great opportunity to explore a very interesting part of the world and to encourage our parents to do the same. I will never forget our trip and our beautiful wedding in Arniston and would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering an overseas wedding that it’s a wonderful, affordable and unique option.”
